tesa® 52917 for compressible sleeves

Foam sleeves have many advantages for printers: they allow large print orders to be carried out and up to widths of over 2m. The printing preparations are a critical process, as the rough foam surface, the width of the web and the trend to higher printing speeds make particular demands on plate mounting. tesa have extended their selection of plate tapes with the new tesa® 52917 and the new tesa® Softsleeve range, high-quality solutions which fulfil these demands without limitations.

The flagship of the new tesa® Softsleeve range is tesa® 52917. Thanks to special adhesives on the upper and lower sides, the plate mounting tape offers reliable adhesive strength on common foam surfaces during printing and also makes plate handling very simple. Even thin plates can be easily repositioned and removed from the sleeves without damage. tesa® 52917 has a thin PET film backing, so that the sleeve’s compressible characteristics are retained in full.

The PET film, which is specially treated in a new production process, allows mounting without stretching the adhesive tape. This characteristic prevents a further potential problem when mounting plates on compressible sleeves: creases in the applied tape. Thanks to tesa® 52917, such visible creases in the printed result are now history.

tesa® 52917 is also perfectly suited to situations where large webs are attached at right-angles to the sleeve. The new sleeve tape is available in 25m lengths and widths of 310, 460 and 620mm. tesa® Softsleeve is the first range of plate tapes in the market specifically designed for use with compressible sleeves. The new range extends tesa’s selection of plate mounting tapes in an important segment of the flexography market characterized by strong growth. Besides tesa® 52917, the enhanced product range includes three other products: tesa® 52307 for trouble-free removal of very thin plates; tesa® 52310 for an extremely strong hold on the printing plate and reliable attachment to the sleeve; and tesa® 52916 for thin plates and an especially secure hold on the sleeve.
